Blended Learning

St. Gerard includes blended learning as part of its regular instruction. Equipped with ChromeBooks, our students are given an opportunity to optimize their traditional instruction by combining it with on-line learning. So, not only do they receive the benefit of face-to-face instruction, our students also have an opportunity to do some web-based learning via the Internet. This exciting approach to education provides the student with some element of control over their learning. Things such as pace (students can pause, go back or skip ahead) and time (when they do their online learning) are often within the student’s control. Also, decisions like the path they want to take to learn a concept are often controlled by the student. Then, as the name suggests, the face-to-face instruction is “blended” with the online learning to deliver an integrated course.
